Summary

Looking for an Assistant Controller to join the team! The Assistant controller will be responsible for the overseeing all aspects of the credit platform two 40’ Act interval funds, including liquidity, regulatory reporting, accounting, and oversight of the various interval service providers (Fund Admin, Fund Accounting, TA, etc.). Candidate will need the ability to work closely with other support staff both inside and outside the business and must be able to work in what will be a respectful but often highly pressurized environment.

Job Description:
  • Review semi-annual financial reports provided by the service provider and coordinate the internal and external review of these reports.
  • Evaluation of quarterly balance sheet and income statement analytics.
  • Liaise with Operations on the monthly and quarterly close of the books and records, including review of trade and re-organization activity.
  • Analyze and account for income from debt securities portfolio and more complex investments including CLO equity, joint ventures, and derivatives.
  • Ability to work directly with deal team and upper-level management on quarterly deliverables.
  • Assist with ongoing portfolio monitoring as well as the review of the daily valuation models.
  • Coordinate with external auditors during the year-end audit.
  • Ensure that effective internal controls are in place. Provide evidence of internal control environment to external auditors on an annual basis.
  • Liaise with internal and external tax teams on RIC compliance, quarterly dividend analysis, annual filings, and other ad-hoc requests.
  • Assist with budgeting, forecasting, expense management, ad hoc financial analysis.
  • Work closely with senior team members on accounting issues.
  • Assist with the review of miscellaneous public regulatory filings
  • Continuously monitor asset and liability needs, including ensuring the company is in compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Focus on systems development to ensure efficient accounting and financial reporting, building a platform for the existing public entity and future additional entities.
  • Support the CFO and interval fund CAO to streamline and improve our overall process as part of the larger Credit Platform.
  • Stay up to date on current and pending changes to accounting guidance and financial reporting requirements.
  • Oversee external audit functions. Ensure that effective internal controls are in place and reporting is in compliance with regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting.
  • Prepare / review month-end NAV from fund administrator which includes cash and interest reconciliations, expense accruals, holdings, etc.
  • Generate and distribute ad hoc reporting to relevant parties such as senior management, deal teams, and investors.
  • Liaise with the deal team on new and existing investments for valuation and financial reporting.
  • Liaise with operations team on fund transactions and activities
  • Maintain fund expense budgets and allocations; track expenses and coordinate updates with fund administrator.
  • Evaluate current financial and accounting processes, propose and implement improvements.
  • Ensure SOX 404 compliant for relevant products on the platform

Requirements / Qualifications:

 

  • S. degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field. CPA, MST, or MBA is preferred.
  • 4-8 years of Big 4 or relevant work experience in Fund Accounting.
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Excel and strong analytical skills.
  • Undergraduate/Graduate degree in Accounting. CPA license preferred.
  • Knowledge of portfolio accounting system (VPM, WSO, Geneva, etc.) preferred.
  • Public accounting experience preferred
