A top financial services and asset management platform is seeking a Senior Development and Construction Underwriter to join a growing and fast-paced Credit Team.

Job Description:
  • Create, maintain, and update guidelines and procedures 
  • Underwrite development and construction loans
  • Guide and mentor other members of the development and construction underwriting team 
  • Manage loan-level risk and ensure loan quality and compliance with company guidelines, including addressing loan-level deficiencies and challenges   
  • Review loan files for accuracy, creditworthiness, and compliance  
  • Communicate with Underwriting/Credit Managers and internal partners quickly and effectively to ensure that loans move through the process efficiently to ensure the best possible customer experience  
  • Review feedback from investors, lead and contribute to initiatives to improve loan credit quality  
  • Understand and appreciate the needs of clients, investors, and capital providers and work collaboratively with the company’s various other teams and departments   

  


Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Hybrid or in-person candidates strongly preferred (NYC) 
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in development and construction underwriting or lending required  
  • Demonstrated familiarity with development and construction projects 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with all phases of development projects including but not limited to: acquisition of land, entitlement of land, horizontal development, vertical development, etc. 
  • BS/BA degree or higher required, preferably in a related field such as Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a similar discipline  
  • Knowledge of mortgage software and an understanding of state and federal loan regulations is preferred  
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge required   
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills  
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and execution skills  
  • Highly motivated with a strong work ethic and desire to work in a fast-paced and fluid environment  
  • Team-oriented and highly collaborative personality  
  • Client satisfaction-oriented personality and demeanor
