Job Description:
  • Conduct credit analysis and underwrite on key credit files including but not limited to: appraisals, financial statements, operating statements, credit reports, inspection reports, environmental reports, loan applications, and other third party reports 
  • Guide and mentor other members of the underwriting team 
  • Actively manage multi-family (5+) BPL loan pipelines on a daily basis 
  • Manage loan-level risk and ensure loan quality and compliance with company guidelines, including addressing loan-level deficiencies and challenges  
  • Review loan files for accuracy, creditworthiness, and compliance 
  • Communicate with Underwriting/Credit Managers and internal partners quickly and effectively to ensure that loans move through the process efficiently to ensure the best possible customer experience 
  • Collaborate to review feedback from investors, lead and contribute to initiatives to improve origination credit quality 
  • Understand and appreciate the needs of clients, investors, and capital providers and work collaboratively with the firm’s various other teams and departments  

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • Hybrid or in-person candidates strongly preferred (NYC)  
  • At least 5 years of prior experience in a Multi-family (5+) Underwriter position, analyzing BPLs, and Rental Loans, including underwriting BPLs to private investor guidelines and standards  
  • BS/BA degree or higher, preferably in a related field such as Finance, Business, Economics, Mathematics, or a similar discipline 
  • Knowledge of mortgage software and an understanding of state and federal loan regulations is preferred 
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge  
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong time-management, organizational, and execution skills  
  • Team-oriented and highly collaborative personality
