Distinguished private equity firm is looking for a colleague to join our Tax Team focusing on the General Partner (“GP”) and Credit Fund tax functions. The role provides exposure to the entire Centerbridge investment platform including Credit, Private Equity, and Real Estate.

Job Description:

• US tax compliance: Manage our service providers, review deliverables, and generally oversee the following – analysis of Fund level book-to-tax with an eye for trends, changes, and tax optimization opportunities; complex federal and state tax allocations, tax returns, K-1s, PTET, and foreign attachments; quarterly tax estimate allocations and deliverables; ECI and FDAP calculations, withholding forms, tax returns, and the maintenance of tax forms for GP Members; FBAR Reporting: entity level and individual level reporting; tax/cash planning deliverables to GP Members and their tax advisors
• International tax compliance: Manage our service providers, review deliverables, and generally oversee the following – FATCA and CRS reporting (reviewing filings, maintaining Forms for GP Members); General Partner UK Tax reporting (tax estimates to UK GP Members, UK tax compliance, capital event driven UK distribution analysis, s431 elections, and general UK planning)
• Manage the outsourced compliance process from inputs to deliverables; this includes overseeing the tax calendar,
issues lists, and control lists.
• Collaborate on tax planning opportunities including ad hoc projects such as new Fund launches, Credit deals,
restructuring, carried interest, waiver, distributions in kind, and individual tax planning
• Coordinate with various internal teams (Fund Accounting, GP Accounting, Human Resources, Operations, Legal, Investor
Services) to augment the flow of information, including the implementation of process improvements
• Assist in the oversight of our entity formation process which includes maintaining existing entities, forming new entities,
review of structure charts at both the investment level and Fund level, etc.
• Interact with GP Members at all levels across the firm, including partners and senior operations leadership, to assist with
tax and ad hoc requests, along with onboarding new GP Members
• Oversee the documentation of tax issues to memorialize tax advice given and tax positions taken


Requirements / Qualifications:

• Big 4 or Industry experience preferred; CPA eligible preferred but not required
• 4 – 6 years of asset management related tax experience (partnership experience is a must); experience working in Credit
is a plus
• Ability to balance working independently on tasks and owning assignments, to managing our service provider and
collaborating with the various internal teams across the floor
• Proactive and positive attitude; desire to make meaningful contributions on a small team
• Strong attention to detail; thoughtful problem solver with an analytical mindset
• Excellent excel skills including experience with sumifs, pivot tables, and arrays; VBA macro, Power BI/Alteryx, Tableau,
SharePoint, or other related software experience a plus
• Desire to work in a challenging environment; quick learner who can zoom out and understand the big picture
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to confidently engage with individuals at all levels
• Superior organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task; sound judgment
