Our client is seeking a Temporary IP Specialist to support its Palo Alto office for a 3-month assignment. The IP Specialist will prepare and finalize documents necessary for filing U.S. provisional and non-provisional patent applications and assist with patent prosecution and docket management. The ideal candidate has hands-on USPTO filing experience, strong knowledge of USPTO rules and practices, and the ability to proactively manage multiple time-sensitive matters in a fast-paced legal environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare and finalize documents required for filing U.S. provisional and non-provisional patent applications.
- Handle filings with the USPTO.
- Support U.S. patent prosecution and related formality requirements.
- Monitor and oversee patent docket deadlines.
- Proactively keep attorneys and patent agents on track regarding deadlines and required actions.
- Work with public/private PAIR and applicable USPTO systems.
- Manage multiple time-sensitive tasks and competing priorities.
- Provide administrative support related to intellectual property and patent matters.
- Communicate effectively with attorneys, patent agents, and internal team members.
- Maintain accuracy and attention to detail in a deadline-driven environment.
- Minimum 3 years of office/administrative experience within a professional services and/or legal environment.
- Experience filing with the USPTO
- Knowledge of USPTO rules and practices.
- Knowledge of docketing, public/private PAIR, U.S. prosecution, and formality requirements.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Proven ability to handle multiple time-sensitive tasks.
- Strong judgment and administrative capabilities.
- Self-starter who can work independently.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Strong Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook skills.
- Must be punctual and reliable.
- Must be commutable to the Palo Alto office.
Pay Rate: $50 - $61/hr
