Our client, a leading global asset management firm based in New York, NY, is seeking a Tax Operations Analyst to join their team. This individual will play a key role in managing daily operational tax processes across multiple fund structures, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international tax regulations. The ideal candidate will bring hands-on experience with W-8/W-9 documentation, withholding tax, and FATCA/CRS reporting within an investment management or fund administration environment.
Responsibilities include:
- Oversee daily tax documentation, withholding, and reporting controls across a diverse set of funds and accounts.
- Manage onboarding and maintenance of investor W-8BEN, W-8BEN-E, W-9, and related documentation, ensuring accuracy and timely renewals.
- Support compliance with FATCA, CRS, and Qualified Intermediary (QI) obligations.
- Coordinate with custodians and administrators to apply correct withholding tax rates and manage foreign tax reclaims.
- Assist with preparation and reconciliation of Form 1099 and 1042-S reporting data.
- Partner closely with Fund Accounting, Compliance, Legal, and Investor Relations to resolve tax-related issues and ensure data integrity.
- Identify and implement process improvements and automation solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
- Stay current on evolving U.S. and global tax regulations impacting investment operations.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field;
- Experience: 3+ years of experience in tax operations, fund accounting, or investment operations within asset management or fund administration.
- Technical Expertise:
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. withholding tax, FATCA/CRS, and QI rules.
- Proven experience managing W-8/W-9 forms and investor tax certifications.
- Familiarity with fund structures such as mutual funds, hedge funds, or institutional accounts.
- Excellent attention to detail, strong communication, and ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced environment.
Pay: $45-$55/hr
