Job Description:
- Manage a pipeline of multifamily BPL loans daily, ensuring each transaction progresses efficiently while adhering to the Firm’s credit philosophy and investor requirements.
- Identify, evaluate, and mitigate loan-level risk by ensuring creditworthiness, loan quality, and compliance with company guidelines and capital provider expectations.
- Review and validate loan files for accuracy, completeness, and alignment with underwriting standards, program parameters, and investor criteria.
- Stay up to date on company policies, capital provider guidelines, and multifamily loan program updates, integrating changes into underwriting and pipeline management.
- Communicate effectively with Underwriting Managers, Credit leadership, and internal stakeholders to maintain loan momentum and support a high-quality customer experience.
- Collaborate with the Firm’s Credit Committee, incorporating feedback from capital providers and loan buyers to improve credit execution and origination quality.
- Work cross-functionally with Originations, Operations, Capital Markets, and other teams to align credit decisions with business objectives while maintaining risk discipline.
Requirements / Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Real Estate, Economics, Accounting, or related field; MBA/MSRE a plus.
- 3-5 years of experience in real estate finance, underwriting, acquisitions, or investment analysis, with hands-on multifamily transaction experience (value-add, stabilized, or new construction).
- Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, including DCF, cash flow forecasting, IRR/NPV, debt sizing, and sensitivity analysis.
- Experience analyzing budgets, operating statements, rent rolls, P&Ls, and pro formas to determine sustainable NOI/NCF.
- Solid understanding of valuation methods, loan structures, and capital markets; familiarity with DSCR, covenants, and lender/investor criteria.
- Knowledge of multifamily market dynamics, submarkets, rent trends, expense benchmarks, and GSE-backed programs (Freddie SBL/Fannie Mae).
- Proficiency in Excel; Argus or other underwriting software a plus.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; able to prepare investment memos, credit packages, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple deals in fast-paced, transaction-driven environments.
- Professional, proactive, solution-oriented, with integrity, ownership, and strong judgment.
