A leading management firm is seeking a skilled Accounting Associate to provide accounting, clerical, and analytical support for our accounting team. This role involves working closely with the entire accounting team to manage property level and corporate accounting functions.

Job Description:
  • Handle paying property taxes and administration/maintenance of r/e tax database – includes phone calls, emails and proactively searching taxing jurisdiction websites to process both landlord timely payments and tenant billings and ensure timely tenant payments
  • Monitor and record all property and corporate insurances
  • Prepare property tax and insurance invoicing to tenants and with annual “true up” reconciliations to tenants
  • Prepare workpapers for property taxes, insurance, and CAM in accordance with GAAP
  • Maintain entity dissolutions and management
  • Maintain tax schedules and record journal entries  for equity issuances
  • Assist in Grantor Trust Letters
  • Assist in 1099 filing at year-end
  • Complete property documentation for required submissions, such as property assessments and property tax forms
  • Prepare schedules and analysis as needed
  • Other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the CFO/Controller

Requirements / Qualifications:

Skills Required

  • Accounting Skills: Basic accounting or bookkeeping skills, handling of accounts payable and accounts receivable matters required
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines while maintaining an organized work environment
  • Communicate effectively: Ability to communicate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders, including tenants and property tax administrators via electronic and telephonic channels, as well as collaborating with internal departments such as Asset Management and Acquisition
  • Software: Proficiency in Excel, accounting software and property management system

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting or bookkeeping experience, real estate or REIT experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Yardi, or any real estate software, a plus
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams
