Summary
This role will help to oversee all financial reporting and accounting practices, and work closely with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations. It will also work to provide insights on complex accounting matters related to debt investments, securities, derivatives, and other financial instruments. The position reports to the Real Estate Chief Accounting Officer.

Job Description:
• Manage, develop, motivate and provide guidance to a team of 5-6 finance professionals
• Review financial statement disclosures and footnotes for SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and MD&A
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and financial reporting regulations.
• Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex accounting issues related to mortgage and equity REIT activities, including fair value measurements, consolidation, and revenue recognition
• Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their potential impact on the company’s financial reporting
• Develop and maintain accounting policies, memos and procedures in accordance with GAAP and industry best practices
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as required
Requirements / Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Real Estate Accounting experience
• 10+ years of experience
• CPA strongly preferred
• Ability to manage a team
