Our client is seeking a Technical Accounting & Reporting Manager, who will lead the SOX 404 Program, play a pivotal role in ensuring the accuracy and compliance of our financial reporting, accounting practices, and regulatory filings.

Job Description:

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

· Lead the ongoing compliance with SOX requirements within the Company, ensuring adherence to internal controls and financial reporting regulations.

· Liaison with internal and external audit firms to ensure SOX programs are designed and operating effectively.

· Conduct thorough research and analysis of complex accounting issues related to mortgage and equity REIT activities, including fair value measurements, consolidation, and revenue recognition.

· Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual financial statement audit and ensure compliance with GAAP and relevant regulatory standards.

· Prepare and review financial statement disclosures and footnotes for SEC filings, including 10-Ks, 10-Qs, 8-Ks and MD&A, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

· Monitor changes in accounting standards and assess their potential impact on the company’s financial reporting.

· Assist in developing and maintaining accounting policies, memos and procedures in accordance with GAAP and industry best practices.

· Provide technical guidance and support to finance and operations teams to resolve accounting-related inquiries and issues.

· Participate in special projects and initiatives as required, contributing your expertise to drive process improvements and enhance internal controls.


Requirements / Qualifications:

The successful candidate will ideally possess:

 

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA designation preferred.

· Minimum 6 years of experience in technical accounting, ideally within public accounting and/or the real estate finance industry

· Strong knowledge of GAAP, SEC regulations, and other relevant accounting standards.

· Experience in application of ASC 810 – Consolidations, ASC 326 – CECL and ASC 842 – Leases a plus

· Proficiency in financial statement analysis and the ability to communicate complex financial information effectively.

· Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail.

· Exceptional verbal and written communication skills are required to interact upward with the executive team and cross functionally

· Demonstrates ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.

· Excellent time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.

· Advanced skills in Microsoft Office suite and hands-on exposure to accounting systems; experience with Workiva WDesk and Yardi a plus
