Responsible for leading the management company accounting team in all activities including tax, audit, partner distributions, cash management, etc. for offices in New York, LA, London and Amsterdam.

Job Description:

 

  • Provide support for and analysis of new business initiatives for a firm that is growing in size and complexity
  • Preparation of the monthly management reporting package, including full year financial forecasts, budget vs. actual analysis and cash flow projections
  • Responsible for management company budgeting and forecasting
  • Monitor multiple intercompany agreements, expense and revenue sharing calculations and transfer pricing policies
  • Drive efficiencies across all management company accounting functions through multiple means including, onboarding of new systems and redesigning processes
  • Assistance in preparation and execution of management company annual audits
  • Daily monitoring of firm-wide cash position and review of check preparation and wire transfers
  • Assist external accounting firms in completion of management company K-1s, annual partnership filings and individual tax returns
  • Partner with various department heads to review budget vs. actuals including HR, IT, Fund Accounting, Legal, Risk, etc.
  • Responsible for various vendor expense accruals and expense pass-through submissions including the implementation of the firm’s expense allocation policy
  • Oversee cost-center tracking and reporting
  • Identify, initiate and assist in cost containment strategies
  • Monitor new tax law changes and assess the application to management companies
  • Assist with ad hoc management reports on funds as needed

Requirements / Qualifications:
  • 10 + years of experience with management company accounting (preferably from a fund)
  • S. in Accounting or Finance, CPA certification is a plus
  • Partnership structure experience is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP
  • Experience with partner distributions
  • Hands-on experience in preparation of financial statements is a must
  • Ability to manage a team effectively
  • High level of expertise in Excel is required (e.g. pivot table, macros) and accounting software packages (familiarity with Great Plains is a plus)
  • Ability to work with ambiguity and analyze/improve processes and efficiencies
  • Proactive and the ability to work in fast-paced, high-pressure environment with multiple deadlines
  • Must have excellent time management and communication and organizational skills with the ability to work within a growing company with increasing needs
